Hierarchy

6" x 6"
Original Oil Painting
On Museum Quality Panel

SOLD

Establishing hierarchy always seems to be so crucial. However after we are firmly ensconced at the top, we may start to notice that our life has changed; not always for the better.  In order to remain at the top, we realize we must be ever vigilant. Meanwhile, our lesser subjects can take nice long naps!

Bea Bea

Oil Painting

5"x7"

Commission
Sold

This adorable little girl managed to get herself lost in Alaska. She left through an open window and was gone for weeks. She has remained rather aloof about her grand adventure.  None the worse for the wear, Beatrice currently resides in Connecticut.

Happy 4th of July !

Harold the Heron

6"x6"
Original Oil Painting

SOLD

Harold fishes in a pond near the home of my grandchildren. There is some assuming going on concerning the name they have  bestowed upon the heron.  If Harold is really a male heron deserving of his name, he would bring all the makings for a nest to his mate and she would be responsible for building it.

Mr. and Mrs.

These two are now....

Married!

After much excitement, I am returning to normal life.  (What is that?)  With the goal of catching up, I have been painting away on commissions.

Amongst my commission work, I created this thank you card for the couple.  It is pen and ink with watercolor.

Striped Things

Oil On Panel

6"x10"

This is another treasured little painting hanging in my home. It embodies two enjoyments in my life-furniture and animal rescues.  Animals just know how to put a piece of furniture to its best use. They see furniture differently than we do. Fabric, price, age- none of these characteristics mean a thing.  For them a piece of furniture is either a jumping off place or a source for their unadulterated comfort. And they know the perfect use when they see it. This cat was caught moments before some spring board action!

Experiment.  Initially I hung the smaller piece of art on top; I was surprised to find that it looked much better hanging below.

Two Peas In A Pod

6"x6"

original oil painting

This is another of my favorite paintings.  These two have been partners in crime since the day they met.  The coffee drinker is my mother's first grand daughter and my oldest daughter.  My mother had boundless energy for her grandchildren.  For my daughter, a visit to grandma's house meant an adventure around every corner.
My mother taught me how to be a granny. (It's the simple things that matter.) Today, my mother is adored by her adult grandchildren.

Displaying Art

I like to see small pieces of art in big, fat frames.  This 6"x6" painting frames out to 12"x12."   For display, try an easel!  The advantage to an easel is accessibility to the painting.  This painting sits on a foyer chest.  Occassionally when I walk through the front door, I pick up the painting.  It makes me happy.  Art should always bring joy.

What Do You Think?

9"x 12"
original oil painting

This painting is near and dear to me.  It hangs in my home and I would grab it if ever I fled my house in an emergency!
One of the girls in the painting is my daughter.  She was in college at the time.
We were perusing the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.  I have always appreciated that she is a willing participant for a trip through galleries and museums.

Hanging art can be a big decision for some.  It does not have to be an ordeal.  Trace the framed piece of art onto newspaper and mark the position of the wire or hook on the newspaper.  Tape the tracing onto the wall wherever you fancy.  Step back and see if you like the spot.  DO NOT HANG YOUR ART TOO HIGH!   It is almost never too low (no matter what the man in your life tells you.)  :)   When you have the perfect spot chosen, affix your hanger to the wall right through the newspaper.  Tear the newspaper away.  Hang the art.  Enjoy

Rockin' Robin

6"x6"
oil on panel
colorful and expressive

SOLD

If you are a robin and you are alive and breathing, it is your lot in life to sing about your day.  We are the lucky recipients of their job.  It isn't always easy to hear their songs through the noise of life, but its such a treat when we do.  Go birds.

It's a great day in South Carolina.

Fitting In With Dolly

5"x 7" oil
on museum quality panel

SOLD

Animals have no problem wrapping themselves around the concept of fitting in.  They love their peeps and their home, no matter.  It is just not a problem, if along the way, life is not a perfect fit.  They simply make do. So what if part of you hangs over the edge.  Relax.  Take a nap.

This is Dolly.  She survived Hurricane Katrina.  She believes she fits in everywhere!

Daisy Mae

5"x7"

SOLD

Commission

Daisy Mae is a senior citizen.  She's sixteen going on seventeen, thank you very much. And she is beautiful...STILL!  My mother will readily admit to being 85 going on 86.  I recently spent the week with her and I noticed all over again just how cute she is.  When it comes to beauty "age dont mean a thing."

Cutest little mom in the world!
