The Incorrigibles

The Incorrigibles

5" x 7"
Original Oil On Panel
Commission

Don't these two remind you of Grant Wood's couple in his painting with the pitchfork?  (Just please never let either of them gain access to a pitchfork!)

Webster's definition of incorrigible is bad beyond correction or reform - which to a "t" describes the behavior of these two misfits.
Meet Hazel and Zeke.  Hazel is a big girl, but Zeke can handle her just fine, thank you very much.  The day Hazel arrived at Zeke's house, his anxiety ridden life became one of unending bad girl fun.
Hazel has been with Zeke for about nine months and she still seems to have an endless supply of naughtiness up her long furry paws...and to think she was brought in to calm Zeke.

Rich Squirrel

Rich Squirrel
5" x 7"
Original Oil on Museum Quality Panel

I found this lucky squirrel playing in his charming little courtyard in Charleston, South Carolina.  He patiently posed, with his mouth full, while I stuck my phone through the wrought iron fence to shoot.  I still cant believe I got the picture.  This never happens for me-people, cows-everything moves just as I take the picture.

I love the ocean.  Bringing the water's color and movement to life on a canvas was such a challenge.

I am so pleased with this painting.  I have had it in my head for a very long time and it translated from said head to canvas quite well.  That does not always happen.  It is such a good thing when it does :) .

Uncle Remus

Uncle Remus

Original Oil on Canvas
8" x 10"
Commission

I have been painting a lot.  And this little fella wins the 'most fun to paint' award.
He's a little pound kitty.  He was caught feral, neutered and meant for release.  The corner of his ear was cut off to mark him as neutered.  But he was just too friendly to release into the wild.  He was deemed adoptable and lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his forever family.

Golden Wheat in Robin's Egg Blue is the name of the sugar bowl's china pattern.   (It had me at the name!)  The sugar bowl is a piece from my mother's Sunday dishes.  She managed to keep her entire set perfectly intact.  Amazingly, her dishes survived six children.
I have loved these dishes since I was a child.  My mother acquired her set of dishes piece by cherished piece.  I believe she used green stamps from my father's gas purchases to do so.

Clark Was Here

Clark Was Here

8" x 10"
Oil On Canvas

Clark is a lucky guy.  He lives the college life and pretty much his every command is met post haste. However, he would want everyone to know that he did have to work a bit harder for cat attention during thesis writing time.  Clark is smart though; after all, he recently earned his college degree right along side his people.
When demands are unmet, protest!  Pick up the pen and state your grievances. Then stage a nap smack dab in the middle of things- works every time it's tried.
