When I was a child, my brothers and sisters and I would occasionally find ourselves on a Sunday afternoon drive through the hilly southern Indiana countryside.

In the summer time all roads led to corn fields.  My parents would comment on the progress of the crop.  Was it a good year or not.  My dad's judgment was that corn should stand knee high by the fourth of July.

It was not until I moved back to my native Indiana as an adult that I appreciated corn.  It was then that I was able to notice the rolling waves created by a breeze or hear the rustle as the air passes through the corn.  It reminded me of a green ocean.

When a Man Loves a Cat

When a Man Loves a Cat

Mark Twain said, "when a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction."
I can not say it better, as these are my sentiments exactly.   It is a wise person that realizes that the love animals  bestow upon us is priceless.  And might I add that love from a cat usually requires a little effort.  Most cats pick winners and losers when it comes to whom they admire.

I saw this scene and immediately knew it was a painting I had to paint.

In the rolling hills of southern Indiana, I spotted these two donkeys frolicking in this gorgeous meadow.   I swear that one of them smiled for the camera.

Dare I say this?  They make looking like an ass awfully cute!

Between the mirror and the white everywhere (not to mention the silver tray) this was a challenging painting.

But, it was painted for two people of whom I am fond!

When a cat owns a home, some areas are of particular importance to him.  Each morning a vigilant patrol is necessary to scope out any intrusion.  Has something been moved, anything new added?  Patrolling is serious cat business- never to be neglected!

This little home was discovered in a rose bush.  Mother bird built the nest in the spring when the bush was sparse.  Sadly, as the bush filled out she was not able to get to her baby through the thorns.  She did not, however, abandon the nest without considerable effort on her part.  Mothers are like that.

These dogs bring new meaning to the term sleeping together.  They are deep into the peace of each other.  If your best buddy doesn't provide warmth and comfort; who will?
